The truth of who you are

I got up a few hours ago to pray. I’ve been listening and writing. I thought about John 8:32 -And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. When I was younger, a man walked up to me and said, “You are not attractive” and walked away. I have no idea who he was. My first day of school, the kids called me a fat pig and said I was ugly. (Now, my husband and others tell me that I am beautiful). As I got older, people said I wasn’t a singer and I should prepare to do something different with my life. (Singing has been my profession since I graduated from college. God has blessed me to travel the world. I’ve been blessed to be a recording artist and receive multiple Stellar Awards, Dove awards and Grammy nominations as a part of the ministry God assigned me to. And, I have the privilege of leading worship at the largest church in America). I even had a relative tell me that no man would want to marry me because of the way I looked. (I’ve been married for almost 17 years) I didn’t know it then, but these were all seeds of lies that the enemy planted to hinder my growth and progress in life. Why? Because he knew that if I rejected those lies and believed the truth about who God says I am, then I would flourish and accomplish many things that would oppose his operation in the lives of many people. How many lies has the enemy spoken over your life? Who said you would never be successful? You’re just like your Daddy/Mother…she/he never amounted to anything and you won’t either? Who said that you would always be poor? Who said that you have reached your highest potential and your life is over? Who said you couldn’t lose the weight? Who said you weren’t smart? Who said you aren’t smart enough to go to college, become a doctor, attorney, engineer, CEO of your own business, or president? Who said you were ugly, fat and that no one would ever want to be with you? Who said you aren’t as good of a speaker/singer/songwriter as someone else? Who said you would never be able to accomplish what others have? Who said you would never be married and that you would always be alone? Who said you have made too many mistakes and have sinned just like the woman caught in the act of adultery and that your life would never flourish again? WHO LIED TO YOU? Don’t believe the lies of the enemy. Jesus didn’t condemn the woman caught in adultery. He forgave her and set her free and told her to not sin anymore. In other words, she had an encounter with THE TRUTH and He set her free. In that one encounter earlier in chapter 8 with this women, he showed her love, compassion, protection and freedom. He gave her a glimpse of who she was created to be. She wasn’t some woman who believed she could only be with a married man. She deserved more than that. She deserved God’s best for her life. And so do you. Don’t believe the lies that the enemy has spoken through people over your life. Cancel the effects of those words and replace them by speaking the TRUTH about who you are. You are redeemed, you are forgiven, you are strong, you are fearless, you are courageous, you are anointed, you are chosen, you are special, you are beautiful, you are handsome, you are successful, you are intelligent, you are able to achieve all of your goals in life, you deserve love and you will give and receive love, you are blessed in the city, you are blessed in the field, you are at a healthy weight for your body, you are wealthy, you prosper even as your soul prospers…need I say more? The truth is that you are who GOD says you are, not people. And you will know THIS truth and THIS truth will set you free today. Live in it. Have a blessed day. 🙂
